15 Best Strawberry Recipes
Who doesn’t love strawberries? Here are the best strawberry recipes for enjoying those sweet ripe berries, from strawberry salad dressing to pie!
Who doesn’t love strawberries, right? These ruby red burst of sweet flavor are everyone’s favorite berry. Alex and I have all sorts of favorite strawberry recipes, from strawberry shortcake to strawberry pie. And one of our newest favorites tops the list: a refreshing strawberry salad with double the strawberries: both sliced and blended into a strawberry salad dressing! We’re getting hungry just talking about it, so let’s just get to the list!
And now, our top strawberry recipes! Strawberry Spinach Salad
At the top of our strawberry recipes? This strawberry spinach salad! Oh yes. It starts with a tangy and lightly sweet strawberry vinaigrette salad dressing (yum!). Then we’ve got spinach, strawberries, and thin sliced red onion. Top it off with chopped pecans and a bit of salty feta, and you’ve got one extremely delicious side salad. Alex and I like it with pizza, with salmon, with pasta: ok it goes with just about everything!
All-Natural Strawberry Yogurt Pie
Next up in our strawberry recipes: this one came from a challenge—a challenge from my mother in law, in fact! Around Easter, she makes yogurt pie: you know the one? Graham cracker crust, Cool-whip, and artificially-flavored strawberry yogurt. Could you make an all natural yogurt pie? she asked. Like with real organic yogurt and real strawberries? Of course, we accepted. And this yogurt pie turned out to be all-natural perfection. Made with strawberries, organic yogurt and maple syrup, it’s got a tangy, pure strawberry flavor. And the oatmeal cookie crust is cinnamon-scented and lightly salted.
Simplest Strawberry Tart
This simple strawberry tart is one of those perfectly classic strawberry recipes! It’s got a crunchy rye pie crust that’s very simple to put together and has a unique, toasty flavor. On top of that crispy crunchy pie crust are delightfully sweet seasonal strawberries, sweetened mascarpone, and a thin layer of strawberry jam. This strawberry tart is all summer and perfect for any festive occasion.
Strawberry Margarita with Lime Ice
You can’t have a list of strawberry recipes without a margarita, right? This strawberry margarita with mint lime ice is a little toast to spring. The tart rhubarb is a perfect combination with the sweet strawberry, and we’ve added a little flair: mint lime ice cubes! These flavored ice cubes are more than just pretty: the cubes are made of lime juice! This genius move helps the drink from getting watered down as the ice melts. When the flavored ice cubes melt, they only add to the zesty lime instead of watering down the drink!
Strawberry Cornbread Cake
Another of our best strawberry recipes: this strawberry cornbread cake! It’s terrifically tasty as either a breakfast or brunch recipe. Or, top it with whipped cream as a dessert! Sweetened with maple and naturally gluten-free, it’s moist and hearty. The cake is made of cornmeal, oat flour and almond meal, with fresh orange juice to give it a zing.
Coconut Strawberry Smoothie
This refreshing coconut strawberry smoothie is a tasty addition to any breakfast or brunch! Using coconut milk makes it vegan and dairy-free, and gives it a coconut-scented creamy body. And there’s some frozen pineapple too, which kicks up the tangy flavor a notch. The icing on the cake, so to speak, is the garnish: we used fresh mint leaves, fresh strawberries, and bee pollen for a beautiful all natural confetti.
Classic Strawberry Shortcake
Of course we couldn’t get away with a list of strawberry recipes without the strawberry shortcake! And this one’s got the “it” factor. It’s that just-sweet-enough, spongy cake with sweet summer berries you’d imagine relishing on a porch swing in the heat of the day, or savoring on a lazy summer night. It’s something for summer birthdays, July 4, picnics, and cookouts. The shortcakes have a bit of Greek yogurt to make them moist, and turbinado sugar as a crunchy sweet topping. And the ripe berries have a tinge of balsamic vinegar to make them pop.
Balsamic Strawberries with Greek Yogurt
Ever had balsamic strawberries? It might sound like an odd combination, but it’s absolutely incredible. The tangy vinegar brings out just the right note in the strawberries! Serving balsamic strawberries over Greek yogurt has become our favorite summertime treat. And we’ve added in a little fresh mint for some flair. This one is one of the first strawberry recipes that Alex and I cooked together, so it holds a nostalgic place in our hearts.
Basil & Strawberry Popsicles
Here’s a super strawberry recipe to enjoy summer with those people you love: these easy and healthy strawberry popsicles! It features one of our favorite ingredients – Greek yogurt, which adds the creaminess of the popsicles. We’ve been using Greek yogurt in everything lately, from strawberry shortcake to ranch dip. These strawberry popsicles are refreshing and delicious, and naturally sweetened using maple syrup or honey. For some added flair, we added some basil from our garden for a little pop.
Roasted Strawberries
This roasted strawberries recipe take that delicious berry and makes it even sweeter and juicier! Here we’ve served them up in a breakfast parfait with yogurt and pecan granola. Turns out that roasted strawberries, baked in the oven for 20 minutes and then swirled with honey or maple syrup, are an incredible taste treat! They’d be absolutely perfect with fresh, ripe local berries.
Strawberry Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette
Here’s another strawberry salad: this time with balsamic vinaigrette dressing! Strawberries are a natural pairing with the acidity of balsamic vinegar. (See the Balsamic Strawberries recipe above!) In this strawberry salad recipe, we used our favorite vinaigrette method to whip up a creamy balsamic dressing using local honey and Dijon mustard. Paired with spicy red onions and toasted almonds, it was a simple and delicious way to enjoy the sweet berries!
Strawberry Rhubarb Muffins
These strawberry rhubarb muffins are oh so delicious and perfectly springy, balancing tangy rhubarb with the sweet berries. The batter uses a unique combination of oat bran, wheat bran, and whole wheat flour for the muffin batter. The muffin is naturally sweet using honey, though you could use maple syrup as well. It also has a bit of fresh ginger to add an aromatic flair, and mashed banana and yogurt to keep them moist!
Lemon Spritzer with Strawberries
Got strawberries? Throw them into water or a spritzer for a fun drink garnish! This lemon spritzer is scented with lavender and lightly sweet: it’s mixed with sparkling water and garnish with sliced strawberries. It’s a fragrant and refreshing drink, perfect for picnics and spring and summer brunches!
Easy Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake
A list of strawberry recipes has got to have at least TWO variations of shortcake, right? These chocolate strawberry shortcakes are a riff on our favorite “vanilla” flavored shortcake, featuring turbinado sugar, which makes them sweet and crunchy, and Greek yogurt, which keeps them moist. These shortcakes are lightly sweet: expect more a tangy, chocolate scented bite than a rich sugary one. If you’re a choco-holic, feel free to add a drizzle of chocolate syrup or some chocolate chips.
Best Frose Recipe (Frozen Rosé)
And finally to round out our strawberry recipes: frose! Frozen rosé, that is! Frosé is a mashup between a frozen cocktail and that quintessential summer wine. Now, most frosé recipes are sickly sweet. And some people complain that freezing rose removes the character of the wine. So Alex and I created a frosé recipe that was not too sweet AND tastes like rosé! And we did it featuring strawberries to get that beautiful pink color and a little natural sweetness.
