Where Is The Wfh Order Asks Syed Saddiq
Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman says the government has to issue an official directive to ensure that the lives of the rakyat are protected.PETALING JAYA: With the number of Covid-19 cases rising alarmingly, along with the workplace clusters, former youth and sports minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has questioned why the government has yet to issue a work from home (WFH) order in areas under the movement control order.
Noting the numerous workplace clusters, the Muar MP said he has yet to see any reaction from the government.
“There were 10 workplace clusters recorded today alone … It’s not a small number,” he said in a Facebook post. “To date, there are no instructions for WFH or any plans to ensure that workplace clusters do not keep growing.
“There were 22 deaths (due to Covid-19) today. This is not a political issue or an issue of who deserves to rule. The lives of the rakyat must be protected. Unfortunately, there have been no plans presented (for a WFH order).”
Kuala Lumpur was placed under MCO today, along with Johor Bahru, Kulai and Kota Tinggi in Johor, Taiping in Perak, as well as 14 subdistricts in Terengganu. The MCO in these areas will run until May 20.
Six districts in Selangor – Petaling, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang – were placed under MCO from yesterday. The MCO in these areas is set to end on May 17.
Meanwhile, five districts in Kedah – Kota Setar, Kuala Muda, Bandar Baharu, Baling and Kulim – are under MCO from May 1-14.
Pointing out that there have been no new SOPs for workplaces released during the latest MCO, Syed Saddiq said the government cannot just leave it to employers to ask their employees to work from home.
“There needs to be an official directive from the government,” he said. - FMT
