Uproar In Dewan Rakyat After Muhyiddin S Son In Law S Case Raised

PARLIAMENT | There was an uproar in the Dewan Rakyat after Khoo Poay Tiong (Pakatan Harapan-Kota Melaka) intervened Muhyiddin Yassin (Perikatan Nasional-Pagoh) and raised the case of his son-in-law Muhammad Adlan Berhan, who is wanted by the MACC.
Muhyiddin was debating the Supply Bill 2024 in the Dewan Rakyat today, raising the issue of rice price increase.
However, Khoo interrupted to ask the former prime minister about the government's decision to allow the Padiberas Nasional Bhd (Bernas) concession which was agreed for 10 years from Jan 11, 2021, to Jan 10, 2031, during his time as premier.
The DAP MP also brought up the case of Muhyiddin's son-in-law, who is still abroad despite having been placed on the Interpol red notice list as required by the MACC.
Unhappy with Khoo, Muhyiddin asked deputy speaker Alice Lau Kiong Yieng to order Khoo to withdraw the statement.

More clashing
Shahidan Kassim (PN-Arau) came to Muhyiddin’s defence, shouting expletives such as ‘bangsat’ and ‘biadap'.
RSN Rayer (Harapan-Jelutong) asked Shahidan to retract his words against Khoo.
"According to council rule 36 (4) on impolite and rude language, I ask Arau to remove the word 'bangsat' directed at the Kota Melaka MP,” said Rayer.
However, Shahidan maintained that he did not address anyone.
"I'm not referring to anyone. I'm just angry at Kota Melaka," he claimed.
The deputy speaker then asked Khoo to retract his words against Muhyiddin.
"I ask Kota Melaka to withdraw the statement about Pagoh's son-in-law. That has nothing to do with today's meeting," she said.
However, Khoo refused to retract the statement and instead tried to provide an explanation. The house continued to be uproarious after several PN MPs asked the deputy speaker to order Khoo to withdraw.
Deputy speaker Alice Lau Kiong YiengThings escalated when Awang Solahuddin Hashim (PN-Pendang) said to Khoo: “Don't follow the Zionist attitude.”
Although asked several times, Khoo refused to retract his statement, prompting Lau to order Khoo to leave the hall and re-enter after the break.
Awang then retracted the word Zionist, while also warning that no one should be allowed to interfere.
The session restarted with Muhyiddin being allowed to make a closing speech.
