(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: U Mobile Sdn Bhd has confirmed its exit from the Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) shareholders’ agreement, with the telecommunications company divesting its 100,000 shares in DNB for a total of RM100,000
U Mobile’s shares will reportedly be acquired by CelcomDigi Bhd, Maxis Bhd, YTL Power International Bhd, and Minister of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc).
U Mobile sought to assure customers that its 5G network would not be affected by this move as it would continue to maintain its 5G wholesale access agreement with DNB.
“This enables the company to offer commercial 5G services while deploying its own 5G network, ensuring a seamless 5G experience for its customers,” it said in a statement.
The telco said its rollout of the nation’s second 5G network had reached 80% coverage of populated areas within the span of a year.
“U Mobile is looking forward to providing enhanced connectivity and innovative services to all Malaysians through its upcoming next gen 5G network, contributing to a competitive and digitally empowered future for Malaysia,” it said.
CelcomDigi, Maxis, and YTL Power will reportedly take 33,333 shares each of DNB’s stake, while MoF Inc will acquire the remaining one share.
Government-owned DNB was in charge of the first 5G network rollout. - FMT
