Tuan Ibrahim Shares Story Of Nik Aziz S Walking Cane
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man shared his memory of the late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s walking cane while speaking to PAS members about the virtue of welfare
He said Nik Aziz (above) once advised him about a verse of the Quran on virtue which he still remembers until now
“You will not be categorised as someone who brings good and virtue until you are willing to contribute what you love,” he said while quoting part of verse 92, Surah Ali Imran
Tuan Ibrahim said he was once speaking to Nik Aziz when an old man with a cane visited them
“At that time, Tuan Guru was using a very beautiful cane. I do not know where he got it or bought it but I saw that it was a beautiful cane, so I knew he loved that cane,” he said
He continued his story and said during the visit, the old man suddenly asked to switch canes with the one which was much beloved by Nik Aziz
“I knew Tuan Guru felt guilty, the uncle asked for his cane. Looking at his (the old man) cane, his cane was...” he trailed off while shaking his head
Despite that, Tuan Ibrahim said that Nik Aziz was still willing to give his beloved cane to the old man, before taking the old man’s wooden cane
“He (Nik Aziz) turned to me and read that verse – we have to give what we love, we have to give what we love
“...That is why the al-Quran condemns those contributions which we do not like and do not want, but we give to others, those which we would not like even if others were to give to us
“Allah wants us to give something we love,” Tuan Ibrahim said
He shared this story during his officiating speech at the National Welfare Convention at the Dewan Seri Kasih Bandar Tun Hussein Onn today
Tuan Ibrahim (below) said welfare was a very important aspect in PAS’ fight to the point that he treats it as the “fourth pillar” of PAS after dakwah, tarbiyah and siasah which is synonymous with the party
However, he said welfare needs to be organised so that it would be able to help those in need so that one day they can go on to help someone else
The convention, organised by PAS central welfare and diversity centre and attended by about 500 people, was held to organise welfare programmes under PAS and it was attended by one of the centre’s chairperson Rosni Adam, who gave a speech
Throughout the officiating ceremony, all speeches were also translated live into sign language by interpreter Noor Hasekan P Ramly onstage
Noor Hasekan is the Pengkalan Chepa OKU coordinator. - Mkini
