Transport Ministry Ends Ean Yong Hian Wah S Tenure As Pka Chairperson
The Transport Ministry has ended Ean Yong Hian Wah's tenure as chairperson of the Port Klang Authority (PKA)
The Seri Kembangan assemblyperson from DAP confirmed this through a posting on his Facebook page this afternoon
Attached to the posting is a soft copy of the letter of termination from the Transport Ministry dated April 1 and signed by Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong, who is also MCA president
The letter stated that Ean Yong’s appointment as PKA chairperson has been terminated effective April 1
“In line with the establishment of the new government administration on March 9 2020, this Ministry has examined the appointments of all chairpersons and board members of federal statutory bodies. “Therefore, it is decided that the services of YB (Ean Yong) as Port Klang Authority chairperson is terminated effective April 1, 2020
“This Ministry extends the highest appreciation and thanks on the service given during the duration of YB’s service at Port Klang Authority,” the letter said
In the FB posting late this afternoon, Ean Yong confirmed having received the termination letter. "With this, I wish to extend many thanks to all those in Port Klang Authority who have extended cooperation with me throughout the duration of (me) holding the post
"Finally, I also wish to express my appreciation to those in the logistics industry and Port Klang operators for their support to continue our mission to turn Port Klang as the premier port in this region," Ean Yong said
On May 30 last year, it was reported that the former Selangor executive council member was appointed as PKA chairperson, effective from May 18 the same year
Ean Yong, 41, is a three-term Selangor lawmaker for Seri Kembangan. He is also formerly the Selangor DAP leader
The previous PKA chairperson was former transport minister Kong Cho Ha, who resigned in July 2018. During the BN administration, the PKA chairpersonship was reserved for senior MCA politicians. - Mkini
