Transport Minister Has Fruitful Meeting With Dr M
PETALING JAYA: Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong had a fruitful meeting with former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Monday (April 18), discussing the latest development of the various public transport infrastructures.
Dr Wee, on his Facebook page, thanked Dr Mahathir for his views and input on how the Putrajaya Monorail Suspension Bridge and tunnel could be developed and utilised by the public.
"Tun M raised his concerns on the Putrajaya Monorail Suspension Bridge and tunnel, which have become an eyesore for their lack of further development.
"I would like to thank Tun M for his views and input on how we can develop these existing infrastructures to utilise them for the convenience of the people working and living in this area.
"I told Tun M that by coincidence, the Transport Ministry, together with the Ministry of Federal Territories, have initiated some efforts to complete the abandoned rail project with possible participation of the private sector," he said, adding that the hour-long meeting was held at the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya.
Wee also took the opportunity to update Dr Mahathir, who is also Langkawi MP on the latest development of the various public transportation projects including the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), the Rapid Transit System (RTS), MRT 2 and MRT 3.
"I also extended my appreciation to Tun M for all he had done during his 22-year tenure (1981-2003) as the prime minister in growing and developing Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC), which has recently been upgraded to Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT)," he added
