Towing Firms Concrete Producers Raise Prices After Diesel Hike

Two concrete producers confirmed raising their prices following the implementation of the targeted diesel subsidies. (Envato Elements pic)PETALING JAYA: Vehicle-towing companies and concrete producers have raised their prices following the hike in the price of diesel.
At least two concrete producers, DPG Readymix Sdn Bhd and LCS Marketing Sdn Bhd, confirmed to FMT that they had raised their prices following the implementation of the targeted diesel subsidies.
When contacted, a spokesman for Kelantan-based DPG Readymix said it was informed that it was not eligible for the fleet card for diesel subsidies.
He said that other companies in the area had also raised their prices.
Meanwhile, a notice by LCS Marketing, which is based in Pahang, said that its concrete prices had increased by RM12 per cubic metre within a 30km distance.
“For distances exceeding 30km, additional charges will apply,” said the notice.
When contacted, LCS Marketing confirmed the notice, saying it was due to the diesel price hike.
Hong Guan Towing Service also confirmed that it had raised its prices. It had put out a notice stating that “towing charges will be increased in accordance” with the diesel price increase.
“No subsidy is allocated to tow trucks,” it said in the notice.
Hardware store Chuan Soon Heng Sdn Bhd also issued a notice informing customers of an increase in prices, citing 25% hikes in “trucking charges” effective yesterday.
“After carefully reviewing the increased costs of our transport, shipping and products, we have to make the difficult decision of increasing the pricing of all products. The transportation charges will also be revised,” said the notice.
The company likewise confirmed the notice when contacted.
