TNG Digital, the operator of the TNG eWallet, says accounts are not suspended arbitrarily.KUALA LUMPUR: TNG Digital, the operator of TNG eWallet, said account suspensions are never carried out arbitrarily.
TNG Digital said it took notice of the recent post about a suspended TNG eWallet account.
"We would like to assure all users that accounts are only suspended when our system detects activity that goes against our terms and conditions or may pose a security risk. We do not suspend accounts without a proper review," it said in a statement.
It added that it also cannot share private details about any individual case.
"We want to remind everyone of a few important rules that help keep the platform safe, namely each person can only have one registered TNG eWallet account; accounts may be blocked if there is activity that breaks our terms and conditions or Malaysian laws and registration information must be genuine, and attempts to use altered or incorrect details are treated as serious security issues.
"In serious situations, we may refer matters to the relevant authorities as required," it said.
Meanwhile, in another statement, the operator said it recently detected an attempt by one person to open a second TNG eWallet account using a tampered or edited identification document.
The operator said this goes against Malaysian law and the platform's terms and conditions, which are in place to protect all users and keep the platform secure.
"Cases that involve possible misuse of identification documents or attempts to create multiple accounts must go through a thorough review process.
"These checks often involve several internal and external steps, and they must be completed before any formal explanation can be given through the proper channels.
"This is to ensure accuracy, fairness and full compliance with Malaysian legal and regulatory requirements," it said.
The platform added that the matter had been referred to the police for further review.
"To protect the ongoing process, we are unable to provide more information at this time.
"Any updates that can be shared will be communicated directly to the affected individual through secure and proper channels.
"Using edited or fake identification documents is a criminal offence in Malaysia. It can lead to heavy fines or jail time."
Recently, a Facebook user had gone viral when he claimed his TNG eWallet account was suspended without warning, leaving him unable to access his funds.
In a detailed post published six days ago, Kauthar Rozmal recounted a timeline of events beginning on Nov 11, when he discovered that his account had been suspended without any prior notification via SMS, email or phone call. - NST
