I enjoy watching TV shows/movies with a mystery element especially when it is about solving a crime. I was thrilled when I received this book from Times Read and Putri but decided not to read it right away because I'm not sure whether it will be a heavy crime in it or full of action-packed. I decided to prepare myself before jump into the story.
Somehow, I was wrong. It wasn't a heavy crime or full of action-packed instead it was a fun, straight-forward story with case after case needs to be solved and plot twist! The story follows with 4 friends who live in a retirement village. They have formed a club under the name - The Thursday Murder Club which these four people share the same passion for solving a crime and their meeting is only once a week every Thursday to investigate unsolved murder cases then in some way, they find themselves in the middle of their very first murder case happen in their town. They might be old but they are energetic, has a wide range of connection, great mind, clever and alert with surroundings also funny too.
The Thursday Murder Club is one of the best mystery, solving a crime that makes me laugh, sad, and makes me wonder whodunnit. It does take some time at the beginning of my reading and after that, it is a really smooth read that I have to take a break here and there just because I'm not ready for it to end. I'm not going to deny there are many names that I, myself get confused for so many times that I keep question myself 'who is this guy again?' or ' what has he/she done?', nevertheless, it is very entertaining to read.
In conclusion, The Thursday Murder Club is very interesting, full of surprise, humorous, and makes you think a lot throughout your reading and I like that it makes me think to figure out who actually did it (and, my guess was wrong 😞). It is definitely a wonderful read and highly recommended to you if you are into solving mysterious crimes. Looking forward to the next The Thursday Murder Club #2.
