An imposing, isolated hotel, high up in the Swiss Alps, is the last place Elin Warner wants to be. But she's taken time off from her job as a detective, so when she receives an invitation out of the blue to celebrate her estranged brother's recent engagement, she has no choice but to accept.
Arriving in the midst of a threatening storm, Elin immediately feels on edge. Though it's beautiful, something about the hotel, recently converted from an abandoned sanatorium, makes her nervous - as does her brother, Isaac.
And when they wake the following morning to discover his fiancée Laure has vanished without a trace, Elin's unease grows. With the storm cutting off access to and from the hotel, the longer Laure stays missing, the more the remaining guests start to panic.
But no-one has realized yet that another woman has gone missing. And she's the only one who could have warned them just how much danger they're all in . . .
I love that this book is set in an isolated hotel located at Swiss Alps which makes me as a reader could feel the eerie/suspense feelings throughout the book. Anyway, the hotel is actually was a sanatorium where TB patients received the treatment however something change that the place become abandoned and they refurbished the place in to a luxury hotel.
Elin, the police detective received an invitation from her brother to celebrate his engagement at the beautiful yet creepy isolated hotel in Swiss Alps. The journey to the hotel was rough but Elin and her boyfriend make it to the hotel in time. The moment they step into the hotel Elin does not really like the vibe of it. She felt something strange about that place but she ignore it because she came there for her brother's engagement. Anyhow, something huge happened; Isaac's fiancé gone missing which is seriously weird. Somehow, days after Isaac's fiancé missing - a guy and woman's found dead. Who did it and why?
I enjoy the mysterious vibe scatter around the book and makes me curiosity increase on who did that to those people and why also the actuality of the problem Elin's face in her life. Honestly, this book is actually is what it takes but kind of couldn't give to me really much. I lost on who is who, which is which; I mean the characters. For the whole story, it just an okay to me. The vibes and creepy element is there but that is that. The story come out to me kinda confusing and does not grab my attention. I guess I'm putting quite high expectation on thriller. Overall, I like it but it doesn't satisfied me in certain ways so maybe it work better with you. It's not that bad, it just me who get frustrated here and there. Anyway, it is a good read.
