A serial liar gets caught repeatedly - and then apologises repeatedly.
He loses defamation cases again and again. He has to pay hundreds of thousands of ringgit in damages. But he still spreads his slime.
This joker is Perak PAS opposition leader Razman Zakaria. Why does he recycle his bad behaviour? Is he a foolish man?
Perhaps that’s why DAP Youth chief Woo Kah Leong portrayed him as a silly clown with the tagline “Raja Fitnah” or “King of Slander”.
ADSWow, is that too strong? Yet, the stink Razman has cooked up over the years has been much more pungent than petai.
He accused then Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng in 2017 of supporting a so-called ban on hotel workers wearing tudung or headscarves.
No non-Malay leader would commit political suicide that way, but perhaps some voters were ready to believe anything.
Six years later, the court confirmed that Razman had to pay Lim RM250,000 in damages for fitnah, i.e. defamation.
Former Penang chief minister Lim Guan EngDuring the 15th general election (GE15) in 2022, he accused Anwar Ibrahim of condoning LGBTQ+ practices.
After Anwar demanded RM5 million in legal damages, Razman meekly apologised at the Ipoh High Court in February 2023.
Razor-mouth Razman had also insinuated that Amanah deputy chairperson Nizar Jamaluddin should join DAP as he supported their concept of a secular nation.
In 2017, the court ordered Razman to pay RM200,000 in defamation damages to Nizar.
Proven serial liar
This PAS propagandist has a proven history of smearing one Pakatan Harapan leader after another (more on that later).
So his title as a clownish Master Maligner or “Raja Fitnah” - as given by DAP’s Woo - cannot be denied. It’s all on record.
Yet, slander or fitnah is a dosa besar (big sin) in Islam, said the Penang mufti.

What Woo has done is to flip the script against the “holy” PAS guy by using humour to shine the spotlight on his ugly political tactics.
Razman likes to dish out dirt, but he can’t seem to handle it when others point out his underhanded tricks.
He behaved like a bad boy who runs crying to daddy when others make fun of him - Razman went to the authorities to complain (let me paraphrase): “No, I’m not a clown, the DAP guy is insulting me unfairly, boo hoo!”
Woo called this seeking of police protection an “excessive” reaction to a cartoon that hints at the “thin-skinned and easily offended” nature of Perikatan Nasional politicians.
“Our country practices a democratic system. Can PAS not accept a single satirical image?” the DAP leader asked.
Najib and satire
Satire has often been used by the weak against the powerful. The most famous local clown image was created by artist-activist Fahmi Reza to lampoon Najib Razak.
Najib, then prime minister, used the full weight of the government to go after Fahmi. The case was finally withdrawn only after Harapan won the 2018 general election.
Meanwhile, Woo’s handphone and SIM card were seized by police.
DAP Pahang chief Lee Chin Chen reminded authorities that satire against politicians is not a crime, but a way for people to criticise those who abuse their political influence to spread hatred.
“The police’s action to open an investigation against Woo is not only unreasonable and excessive, but also risks creating a culture of ‘white terror’,” he said.
He added that if Razman disagrees with the satire, he should rebut it with arguments and facts, “rather than hiding behind the police to block criticism.”
Lee said, “I call upon the police to return to the principles of justice and professionalism.”
No repentance
Rather than bertaubat or repent for his past wrongs, in January, Razman claimed that DAP deputy secretary-general Hannah Yeoh was the daughter of YTL Corporation Berhad’s founder, Yeoh Tiong Lay.
He was trying to insinuate wrongdoing by linking her with Umno’s sale of a cement company (Perak-Hanjoong) to YTL.
However, once he was proven wrong, he resorted to his SOP of “baling batu, minta maaf” or “throw stones then apologise.”
In December 2024, he again apologised to DAP Perak chief Nga Kor Ming for falsely linking the latter to an international cultural event in Teluk Intan where delegates from China waved their own national flag.
“I admit that the allegations are false and completely unfounded,” he said.

But why does this joker keep telling lies and keep getting caught?
DAP’s Woo was actually being polite in portraying him as a circus clown riding a unicycle on a tightrope.
But rather than being merely silly or stupid, Razman is probably more accurately portrayed as a cunning and devious clown, the kind that lurks in dark corners of horror movies.
His strategy seems to be - keep flinging mud (or sh**) at the wall, because something will definitely stick.
It doesn’t matter that it won’t stick in a court of law or in the “proper” media, because few people read actual news nowadays.
Instead, it sticks in voters’ minds. So what we have is a flood of maki-hamun or spicy insults online that people slurp up. Who doesn’t love scandals, right?
Fake news online spreads six times faster and further than the truth, as a study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found.
Even if it’s debunked or retracted, the damage has already been done, as the slimy slurs have spread to far more voters online than the few who read the “boring truth”.
Madani too afraid?
It’s a simple numbers game. That’s probably why Razman has kept and will keep repeating his strategy of flinging outrageous lies at Harapan leaders.
Even a six-month suspension by the Perak state assembly in April 2025 will probably not deter him from his “successful” smear strategy.
Perhaps the only thing that can stop this PAS-guided missile is criminal defamation charges and jail time.
However, the Madani government appears reluctant to take stern action, fearing it may lose Malay votes. Instead, police are probing Woo, the whistleblower!
Yet, allowing Razman to continue his strategy of spreading political poisons only further weakens Madani.
But wait, how does Razman keep paying hundreds of thousands in defamation damages?

It’s a far cry from the days when PAS had to collect donations during ceramahs using Milo tins. Perhaps their short stint in power after the Sheraton Move has had some benefits?
Superpower costumes
Mat Sabu claimed that PAS won big in GE15 because the party peddles lies. For example, he said, some campaigned that if Harapan won, students would become transgenders who will be forced to wear skirts.
It sounds ridiculous, but some voters probably believed it. Mat Sabu added that many Malays, especially the young, were deceived because it was done by those “berserban dan berkopiah putih” (wearing white turbans and skullcaps).
Perhaps paying damages for repeated fitnah is “chicken feed”, a small “investment” to achieve power? But, sadly, it’s done in the name of religion.
Now the serial liar wants the police to protect him from a cartoon! Why?
Because he knows a single clown caricature can speak much louder than a hundred news articles.
It’s even funnier as Razman has urged the authorities not to grant any “immunity” to Woo, who is under police investigation over the satirical cartoon.
Yet in reality, it’s the razor-mouth man who has had social immunity despite his years of weaponising slander.
Perhaps his “serban and jubah” (turban and robe) costume gives him an invisible “force field” like a Marvel movie hero, blinding some voters to his unholy tactics.
