The letter sought the deputy minister's support for the company's bid to supply food to boarding schools in Kelantan
 The Harapan government is publicly against closed tenders and under-table dealings
At a coalition fundraiser on Dec 9, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said donors, including those who spent hundreds of thousands to buy portraits of leaders, will not be getting any special treatment
"To those who contributed tonight or bought the tables, I want to apologise as there will be no special treatment for you.
"If you want to get something from the government, the way is to compete through open tender process. If the offer you make is good, you might win (the contract)," Mahathir had said
Previously Romli Ishak, the political secretary of Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, was accused of writing a support letter for a caterer
Romli, however, denied that the document, printed using the Deputy Prime Minister's Office letterhead, was a support letter, but said it was merely a "referral" for a party member who bid for the contract
