I'VE never criticised him neither had I wrote anything unpleasant since Umno and Pas were unified under Penyatuan Ummah and Muafakat Nasional in September 2019. I had always avoided penning about Takiyuddin Hassan's politics, let alone to stir a rift with him.
However, his open statement seeking Umno's explanation on 'Anwar Ibrahim move' announced by the latter in Kota Kinabalu on Wednesday, left me with no choice but to remind him of the spirit of camaraderie in MN, that it was not in Umno vocabulary to renegade on Pas.
When Umno president Zahid Hamidi issued a brief statement on the same day that Umno would not stop any of its Members of Parliament wishing to join Anwar, it should be well understood by Taki and the rest of MN members.
In the first place, that was similar to the era of post-GE14 when some Umno MPs leapfrogged to Pakatan Harapan in order to safe their necks. They didn't consider Umno and Zahid at all. In this present condition, they are free to join Anwar if they want to.
Its just like your son marrying a nurse instead of you wanting him to marry a doctor. He is free to do so although you have persuaded him. Same here in Umno case.
However, so far not a single Umno MP has openly announced his/her support for Anwar. Umno is loyal to MN, and Taki as the co-sec-gen with Umno's Ahmad Maslan in Muafakat Nasional, should have observed the spirit of brotherhood in MN by seeking a close door explanation from Umno.
As an Umno member, I'm a bit hurt by your open statement. You are a changed man ever since appointed a minister under the Perikatan Nasional government, created on the understanding among MPs and not among parties. Making Muhyiddin Yassin the prime minister was our mutual initial agreement to dispose off the PH regime.
I thought you are a matured politician but sorry to say that you are not. Comfort as a Cabinet member has prompted you to 'take a lead' in Pas and MN and at the same time has produced some bitter statements about Umno.
Umno is with MN and will never betray it. Zahid's statement was taken out of context by some parties, including Umno members itself. But had you understood the whole situation, you will know that Umno never supported Anwar Ibrahim and his 'September Move'. It was just his another political stunt and gimmick to disrupt Sabah state election and probably the coming general election.
If you are mature enough, you can always talk to your buddy in MN Ahmad Maslan or Zahid himself and not wanting to be seen as a hero trying to devastate Muafakat Nasional itself.
I'm advising you openly since you had openly showed your disgust at Umno. Did you know that list of Anwar's probable Cabinet lineup was done by those intending to tear us apart in MN? Be wise, go deeper before you speak.
MN is ours, help to fortify it by creating larger understanding among its leaders. Stop making any bad disposition. After all, it benefits nobody but add bullets to our enemy. Stay as brothers!
