Should The Humble Nasi Lemak Be Served With Rm100 Alaskan King Crab

WHEN Nasi Lemak is being mentioned, we expect a cheap RM2.40 meal that is both delicious and unhealthy. But Malaysians don’t bat an eyelash over it because we have never been a very healthy nation anyway, thanks to the delicious array of meals available for us.
But what if the humble Nasi Lemak, an ubiquitous breakfast meal accessible to all, is given a price tag of RM100 or more? That is probably more than the price of some fine dining restaurant out there.
Take it from this video by netizen @bckupacc99 who highlighted the nasi lemak sold at a street stall. The highlight? It comes with a choice of Alaskan King Crab.
It is not everyday you get to dine on Nasi Lemak with these giant delights. Usually it is the rendang, chicken curry or squid. But Alaskan King Crab? Now this is a head turner.
According to @bckupacc99 who brought the video to light, this was the equivalent to a T20 Nasi Lemak. We certainly can’t argue with that. Netizen @_attiahnajwa added that the price was like paying for her Myvi’s monthly installment.

Also, @Najimuddin93967 pointed out that this was two months worth of their kitchen budget. “Now that we saved money with petrol, we can waste it here instead,” said @nocontextoffad.

On another note, the price tag is understandable since a two to three kg Alaskan king crab can easily fetch a price of RM500 on the market.
Also, there are quite a number of restaurants all over Malaysia that sell Nasi Lemak with king crab, with a price tag of RM300 plus. In other words, RM100 is considered cheap.
The most important question remains. Is the Alaskan King Crab a good accompaniment to the humble Nasi Lemak, or perhaps it should go without all that shell and pincers? — Focus Malaysia
