Semenyih Needs Zahid S Touch
WE have another week to go before voters in Semenyih decide. To me, its quite crucial. The campaign momentum is gathering pace, be it on BN, PH or independent camps.
Many things took place over the week, some pleasants and others unwanted ones, including when BN candidate Zakaria Hanafi was splashed by wet paint in an 'ah long style' modus operandi. Not pointing fingers to anybody but it is not healthy for 'an already fading democracy in Malaysia'.
Expect for more of this hooliganism!
But at the meantime I just wanna focus on Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. In his last 'personal encounter' in Semenyih and Tmn Tun Dr Ismail over the past few days, responses from the people were very encouraging.
No more synical words or signs about his status, let alone the soft whispering of his 47 charges. After almost three months of lull from Menara Dato Onn, I guess the atmosphere of Cameron Highlands and Semenyih are putting him on a better footing in Umno.
With Pas-Umno cooperation begins to bear fruits, members are looking up at Zahid to have a real commitment in Semenyih. Najib Razak aside, he should use Semenyih platform to make a 'comeback'.
Ex-Pemuda chief Khairy Jamaluddin said Zahid is welcome in Semenyih, and it is his rights as the party president to help campaigning for Umno and Barisan Nasional in Semenyih.
That's an outright remark by KJ, whom I think is realising that internal bickering in Umno will lead it to nowhere, that Zahid is chosen democratically for 3-year term and that its time to rally behind him.
Pending his court case, Umno must be reshaped and cemented in order. Semenyih should be turned into a catalyst for unified party. The only thing that differs Camerons and Semenyih is, the latter is a seat to wrest from Pakatan Harapan.
With an air of 'confidence' building up in Semenyih's BN Command Centre, there is a need for Zahid to boost party workers' morale by visiting it and show the spirit of comraderie to BN components, and Pas too.
Semenyih really needs Zahid. Helping to secure Semenyih comes first, 'domestic' issues are not important now!
