Selangor Armada We Will Fight Attempts To Force Malays Into Accepting Extreme Western Liberal Way Of Life
(The Star) – Selangor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) youth wing Armada warns that it would fight tooth-and-nail against any groups attempting to force Malays into accepting an “extreme Western liberal” way of life.
Selangor Armada chief Adhif Syan Abdullah, in a strongly worded statement, expressed concern, as he claimed there were such plans by certain groups, while declaring that Bersatu will continue to fight for the rights of Malays and Muslims in the country.
“Selangor Armada is issuing a stern warning to these groups – we will fight against their plans to the end.
“Bersatu will never keep quiet, and we will continue the struggle for the rights and interests of Malays and Muslims, as enshrined in the party’s constitution, as well as the Federal Constitution,” he said in a statement issued Wednesday (Jan 30).
Adhif claimed these groups were often selective when they chose to use the Federal Constitution as a reference.
“But, they would not quote it (Federal Constitution) when it comes to Malay rights. It’s clear that these groups are hypocritical and only quote the Federal Constitution when it fits their narrative,” he added.
According to Adhif, Selangor Armada opines that if the rights and interests of Malays are protected, then the interest of other races in the country as a whole would be better protected and strengthened.Adhif claimed that history has proven that Malays are naturally a noble, tolerant and cultured ethnic race.
“But, do not try to take advantage of the attitude and kindness of Malays.
“Selangor Armada is confident that the agenda of the Malays will continue to be strengthened under the Pakatan Harapan government led by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad,” he said.
Meanwhile, Adhif urged the top leadership of each component party to be more sensitive towards Malay issues when it comes to policy making, public speeches and public statements to the media.
He said the government must place a special emphasis towards Malays in forming a more inclusive and just Malaysia in future, as he claimed that Malay voters haven’t fully accepted Pakatan yet.
Adhif said his remarks came following a statement by Selangor PKR youth chief Najwan Halimi, who had urged all Pakatan component parties to place more emphasis on the agenda of Malays.
He said that Pakatan’s disastrous defeat in the recent Cameron Highlands by-elections has reflected the Malay’s perceptions towards the government’s sincerity in fighting for issues pertaining to Malays.
“The Pakatan leadership cannot deny the fact that Malay support towards the party is far less than Umno and PAS,” he said.
