Salahuddin Time To Rethink Covid 19 Response Establish Bipartisan Committee

Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub has urged the government to form a bipartisan committee to find new ways to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.
This after the country recorded a whopping 5,725 new cases today.
"It is time to go back to the drawing board. This is not about the emergency, this is about the management of Covid-19.
"The people's lives are increasingly in danger," he tweeted tonight.
The surge in cases came one week before the second movement control order (MCO 2.0) is set to end on Feb 4.
The order - which came into force on Jan 13 - has been heavily panned for not being strict enough to curb Covid-19.
Meanwhile, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said on Facebook today that the MCO 2.0 was half baked, and a wasted effort.
He chided the government, saying if many industries were to remain open when a lockdown should be in place, there might as well not be an MCO.
Most recently, a change in SOPs will allow night markets to be open from 4pm to 10pm.
Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz had said earlier today that a total lockdown is unlikely and that cases were expected to decline.
“Based on the current model, we believe the number of cases will go down.
“Assuming a worst-case scenario (did come true), it will not be a total lockdown on the economy; we will continue to focus on more stringent SOP,” he told CNBC.

The authorities had indicated that the MCO 2.0 will not be enforced for more than four weeks, and will be reverted to a conditional MCO instead. - Mkini
