Sabahans In Cmco Areas Can Contact District Officers For Food Aid
Residents in areas under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Sabah were urged to contact their district officer or welfare officer regarding food aid.
Sabah Community Development and People's Well-being Minister, Ir Shahelmey Yahya said for districts under the CMCO, priority for food aid would be given to quarantined families.
"The various district Covid-19 Command Centres will coordinate the distribution of food aid in their respective districts,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
He was commenting on complaints by some residents on social media claiming that the food aid had yet to reach them.
Yesterday, Shahelmey, while visiting the food aid distribution centre at Kota Kinabalu City Hall, said that those undergoing home quarantine and those staying in Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) areas would be prioritised for food aid.
However, food aid would be provided to all districts affected by the CMCO, he added.
Meanwhile, Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Masidi Manjun expected Covid-19 positive cases in Kota Kinabalu to increase drastically as many test results from the Kepayan Prison cluster have yet to be released.
"There are 2,700 inmates and employees at the Kepayan Prison and if the percentage of positive results are high, then cases in Kota Kinabalu will increase drastically in the next few days.
"Health officers, however, will give full attention to the Kepayan Prison cluster, and, for now, the screening process is moving smoothly,” he said at a media conference on Covid-19 development in Sabah today.
Sabah recorded 535 new Covid-19 cases today.
