Sabah Cm To Be Sworn In Tomorrow Morning Identity Still A Mystery
Following Saturday's Sabah state elections, a chief minister will be sworn in at 10.30am at the Istana Negeri tomorrow.
However, the identity of the leader who will take the oath has yet to be revealed.
"For your information, the chief minister's swearing-in ceremony will take place on Sept 29, 2020, at 10.30am at the Sabah Istana Negeri," the Sabah State Information Department said in a brief statement to the media today.
It quoted the Istana Negeri as a source but did not reveal who will be sworn in by Governor Juhar Mahiruddin.
Yesterday, Sabah BN and Sabah Perikatan Nasional (PN), both parts of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition which won 38 seats and is claiming the support of an additional three independents, apparently failed to reach a consensus on their chief ministerial candidate after a two-hour internal meeting.
Sabah BN's Bung Moktar Radin and the state PN's Hajiji Mohd Noor, who are believed to be the favoured candidates, then had an audience with the governor yesterday afternoon.
Bung told the press that they had asked the governor to make the decision over who would be the next chief minister.
Bung said the governor had said he needed time to make his decision but would reach one as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, supporters of Warisan president Shafie Apdal, who was the outgoing chief minister, have argued that since Warisan was the largest single party in Saturday's polls (with 23 seats), Shafie should be given the chance to form a government first. - Mkini
