Rogue Rep Challenges Nga To Prove Majority Support As Perak Dap Chief

Tensions continue to simmer in Perak DAP over chapter chief Nga Kor Ming's openness to cooperate with Umno during the state's menteri besar crisis last week.
At least three assemblypersons have spoken out against Nga, with Malim Nawar assemblyperson Leong Cheok Keng (above) challenging Nga to prove he still has the state DAP's support.
"I sincerely advise him to call for a special congress meeting to confirm if he still has majority support," Leong said in a Chinese-written statement today.
He said Nga's "political mistake" made him no longer qualified to serve as Perak DAP chief.
The Perak state government went through upheaval after Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu lost a vote of confidence on Dec 4.
Those who voted against Faizal were from Umno, DAP and the rest of Pakatan Harapan.

Following this, Nga said DAP was willing to forge an alliance with Umno to form a stable and multiracial state government.

However, sources said while Umno was open to working with PKR and Amanah, it did not want DAP in the picture.
Ultimately, Umno made amends with Bersatu and was able to form the new state government, together with PAS.
Leong said while there are good people in Umno, Nga's move was unacceptable.
“Nga chose to work with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who he once described as a thief,” he said.
He added that the party's members were confused about whether Nga's openness to working with Umno was the new party line.
“Will Umno be friend or foe to DAP from now on?” he asked.
DAP will solve its problems within the party channels
When contacted, Nga stressed that as a highly disciplined party, DAP will solve its problems through internal channels.

“I will not attack my party comrades publicly like some people do, because it’s immoral.
"I respect different opinions, but the openly malicious personal attack shows the person's moral character, I don't care about it and I believe justice and truth will prevail.
"I’ll stick to my mission and do the right thing," he told Malaysiakini.
Besides Leong, Nga's other critics are Pasir Bedamar assemblyperson Terence Naidu and Pokok Assam assemblyperson Leow Thye Yih.
17 MPs and reps from Perak DAP in support of Nga
Meanwhile, 17 MPs and assemblypersons from Perak DAP have also released a statement to remind the rogue trio to conform to party discipline.
"It is extremely regrettable that the three deliberately violated party discipline by attacking the party leaders publicly while the leaders are working hard to resolve the political crisis in the state," they said.
They also urged the trio to stop distorting facts and making defamatory remarks towards the party.
In September last year, Leow and Leong announced their resignation from the Perak DAP committee as a result of dissatisfaction with Nga over the status of Perak executive councillor Paul Yong, who was facing rape charges.
Leong and Leow resigned as deputy treasurer and assistant secretary of Perak DAP respectively in protest after Nga had said that appropriate action would be taken against the DAP state lawmaker, depending on the circumstances.
Yong eventually quit DAP and defected to support Faizal's government.

DAP is the second-largest party in the 59-seat Perak state assembly with 16 seats, while Umno has 25 assemblypersons.- Mkini
