Project Issues Among Causes Of Perlis Political Crisis Hadi

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang claimed today that issues involving several projects in Perlis were among the causes of the political crisis that led to the resignation of Menteri Besar Shukri Ramli.
Speaking at a press conference in Marang today, Hadi claimed many large projects in the state did not comply with regulations.
“There are too many projects. The projects did not follow regulations - that’s wrong. Behind it, there is corruption; behind it, there are all sorts of things.
“He (Shukri) couldn’t go along with it. I don’t need to mention who was involved.
ADS“So when the pressure became intense, we had no choice but to act,” Hadi said.
Shukri RamliHowever, the Marang MP did not elaborate on which major projects he was referring to.
‘Betrayers’ sacked
PAS yesterday announced that the party memberships of three Perlis assemblypersons were terminated with immediate effect following turmoil involving efforts to oust Shukri as menteri besar.
They are Chuping assemblyperson Saad Seman, Bintong assemblyperson Fakhrul Anwar Ismail, and Guar Sanji assemblyperson Ridzuan Hashim.
Following that, Perlis state assembly speaker Rus’ele Eizan yesterday announced extraordinary vacancies in the three state seats.
Meanwhile, Hadi said Shukri resigned not because he was unjust in his administration, but because he was “wronged”.
Perlis“He is a menteri besar who went down to the ground. People still supported him. And he himself no longer wanted to be menteri besar.
“He was wronged, not the one who was unjust. In Islam, when someone is wronged, the Prophet taught that God accepts their prayers,” he said.
Yesterday, Shukri said he had submitted his resignation letter to Perlis ruler, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, citing health reasons.
He also said the three former PAS party members’ action amounted to a betrayal, and that their move was coordinated. - Mkini
