Ph Leaders To Meet Pm Today Over Reform Proposals
Khalid Samad said Pakatan Harapan leaders would revert to Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the final draft of the reform proposals that has been shared with the opposition.PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan leaders will be meeting Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob later today to discuss his reform proposals.
Amanah communications director Khalid Samad said PH leaders would be reverting to Ismail on his proposal, adding that the prime minister had given them a final draft of the proposed reforms yesterday.
This was what the PH leadership had discussed in a meeting yesterday evening, before issuing a statement that they had agreed in principle to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the government, subject to some changes.
“A few things need to be fine-tuned. So they’re going back to discuss,” Khalid told FMT.
He added that he did not know where or what time this meeting would be held as he was not involved in the discussions with the prime minister.
Among Ismail’s offer of reforms include a 10-year term limit to the tenure of the prime minister, the introduction of an anti-party hopping law, and the involvement of opposition members in the National Recovery Council (MPN).
Yesterday, PH said it had agreed in principle to the proposals to save lives and preserve the livelihood of the people.
Meanwhile, on Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi’s claim that PH had turned down an offer to join the MPN as it refused to work under its chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, Khalid said this was not true.
