Pas Finally Concedes Will Consider Offer From Pm
PAS has congratulated Anwar Ibrahim for being appointed as the 10th prime minister.
"PAS is confident that he will fulfil his responsibilities well and fairly.
"(We expect him) to prioritise the federalism concept which is appropriate for all territories," said PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Takiyuddin also claimed that Anwar has made an offer for Perikatan Nasional to join the unity government.
"PAS expresses our gratitude and we will discuss the matter with our PN component partners as well as seek feedback from the voters who have supported PAS and PN during the general election," he said.
This comes a day after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang publicly said that PN was "still in the lead".
Hadi later appeared at a press conference yesterday afternoon alongside PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin who claimed that he still has the majority required to be prime minister.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin HassanMeanwhile, Takiyuddin said his party will study Anwar's invitation to join his unity government.
"PAS expresses our gratitude and we will discuss the matter with our PN component partners as well as seek feedback from the voters who have supported PAS and PN during the general election," he said.
During his maiden press conference as prime minister, Anwar said he would be the prime minister for all.
However, he said PN's initial response was "not encouraging", in reference to Muhyiddin's rejection of a proposal by the palace to work with Harapan and challenging Anwar to prove his support. - Mkini
