Official Bn Retains Pelangai With Increased Vote Share
BN has managed to retain the Pelangai legislative assembly seat with better results, offering a slight reprieve after being battered during the Aug 12 state polls.
The reports during the vote-counting process are as follows:
Voter turnout 72pct
9.20pm: According to the Election Commission, the turnout for Pelangai was 72.12 percent.
For comparison, the turnout for Pelangai during 2022 was 78 percent.
EC also says there were 11,746 ballots cast, of which 120 were spoilt votes.
Official: BN retains Pelangai with higher vote share
9pm: The Election Commission has announced that Amizar Abu Adam has retained the Pelangai seat for BN, who won 62.37 percent of the votes cast.

Coming in second is Perikatan Nasional's Kasim Samat, who won 37.26 percent of the votes cast.Independent candidate Haslihelmey MD Zulhasli won 0.4 percent of the votes cast and hence will not be retaining his RM5,000 deposit.
No untoward incidents
9pm: Pahang police chief Yahaya Othman says the polling for the Pelangai state by-election went smoothly, with no untoward incidents reported.
When contacted by Bernama, he says police did not receive any report of disturbance during the voting process, which began at 8am in nine polling stations and concluded at 6pm.
Yahaya also says that throughout the 14-day campaigning period, 95 ceramah and campaign permits were approved, in addition to two police reports lodged.
Transferability of votes
8.15pm: There is evidence of very high vote transferability among non-Malay Pakatan Harapan supporters to BN.
This is apparent in voting districts where Malays are not the majority - Manchis, Sungai Gapoi, Telemong and Sungai Perdak.
Notably, BN makes a 1.31 percent gain in Simpang Pelangai, where 96.8 percent of the voters are Malay.
As for Perikatan Nasional, they made gains in all nine voting districts, which indicates that they may have attracted some Malay Harapan supporters to switch sides, especially in Simpang Pelangai.
Simpang Pelangai sees the biggest swing towards PN (19.3 percent of the voters).
BN retains Pelangai with increased vote share
8.05pm: BN has retained the Pelangai constituency with a 62 percent vote share, based on the unofficial count.
This is an improvement on the 57.7 percent achieved by its incumbent in 2022.
BN came out tops in seven out of nine voting districts. They failed to hang on toFelda Kemasul and Felda Kemahal.
BN in the lead, only one voting district left
8pm: The vote counting process is almost over with only one voting district to go.
BN has won in the voting districts of Kampung Jawi-Jawi, Simpang Pelangai, Manchis, Sungai Gapoi, Telemong and Sungai Perdak.
Apart from the two Felda settlements mentioned in the preceding post, Perikatan Nasional made gains in the Malay-majority voting districts of Kampung Jawi-Jawi and Simpang Pelangai.
In Kampung Jawi-Jawi and Simpang Pelangai, PN managed to double its vote share.
PN takes two Felda settlements
7.45pm: Perikatan Nasional has managed to win in the Felda Kemasul and Felda Kemahal voting districts.
At Felda Kemasul, PN polled 57 percent of the votes cast, up from 38.4 in 2022. At Felda Kemahal, PN polled 50 percent, up from 33.6 percent in 2022.
The counting at Felda Chemamoi, the biggest of the three Felda settlements in Pelangai, is still ongoing.
Telemong voting district: 97pct vote for BN
7pm: The counting at Telemong voting district has concluded and around 97 percent of the votes went to BN - closely reflecting the percentage of non-Malay voters in this voting district.
However, Perikatan Nasional's Kasim Samat improved his performance in this voting district by winning 17 votes, up from five in 2022.
Telemong is a small agricultural town located southeast of Karak.
Let there be light!
6.45pm: TNB personnel are spotted setting up electricity generators at polling centres as the vote-counting process is taking place.
They tell Malaysiakini that these generators are on standby in case of electricity service disruptions.
So far, there have not been any disruptions during the campaign process in the constituency.
Voter turnout
6.30pm: The turnout for this by-election is surprisingly high and is expected to be slightly over the 70 percent mark.
As of 4pm, the Election Commission was reporting a 69 percent turnout. It normally does not update turnout figures after 4pm.
For reference, the national turnout rate for GE15 was 73 percent. The turnout in Pelangai in 2022 was above average at 78.5 percent.
