No Leads Linking Najib To High Profile Murders Police Source

Former premier Najib Abdul Razak may be "disappointed" that the police are not probing him over several high-profile murders as there is no lead to link him to any of the murders
A well-placed police source said that police could only investigate Najib if there is a development linking him to the murders, but so far, there is none
Last Sunday, Najib took to Facebook to question why the Pakatan Harapan government had yet to reopen investigations on him on the matter
He had insisted to be probed on all the murder accusations after alleging that for the past 10 years, the DAP machinery and propaganda had repeatedly accused him of murdering Altantuya Shaariibuu, Kevin Morais, Hussain Najadi, Teoh Beng Hock and Ahmad Sarbani
In October last year, his aide had lodged a police report in a bid to reopen the cases
However, Najib's effort was halted as the Sentul district police chief S Shanmugamoorthy Chinniah said that there was nothing to investigate from the report and that it was a civil matter
The source told Malaysiakini that police would investigate Najib regardless of whether the report was lodged as long as they have the leads
"No investigation paper opened regarding Najib. And there is no need to lodge a report to investigate him. If there's a new development linking him to any of the cases, then we will investigate..
"If anybody has information (regarding Najib's involvement in the murders), please come forward," said the source
Meanwhile, Kevin Morais' brother Richard Morais has urged the public to stop linking Najib to the murder
"The truth is Najib is not involved at all. I can guarantee that. It's not to say that I purposely support him; the problem is my brother's murder case has nothing to do with him," he told Malaysiakini yesterday in response to Najib's Facebook statement. Richard (photo) said that Najib had sent flowers during the wake service of his brother at Nirwana, and even recommended Kevin's name to the King to be conferred posthumous Datukship
"I am not saying that he is an angel but this case has nothing to do with him." He added that he has faith in the authorities as well as the court that handled the trial of Kevin's murder
Kevin Morais, a deputy public prosecutor attached to the MACC, was murdered in 2015 amid a crackdown on investigators probing the 1MDB and SRC International scandals
Another brother, Charles, had claimed he had drafted the charge sheet against Najib prior to his murder, but the MACC said the prosecutor was not involved in its 1MDB investigation
Ravi Chandaran, R Dinishwaran, AK Thinesh Kumar, M Vishwanath, S Nimalan and Kunaseegaran pleaded not guilty to the charge of killing Morais on the way from Jalan Dutamas 1, Sentul, to No 1 Jalan USJ 1/6D, Subang Jaya, between 7am and 8pm on Sept 4, 2015
The next hearing on the case is expected to continue on March 21.  - Mkini
