Mujahid Extends Invitation To Malays To Join Harapan Parties

After Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad invited all Malay parties including Umno to join Bersatu, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mujahid Yusof Rawa has extended the invitation for Malays to join any of Pakatan Harapan’s component parties
Due to the “obsolete” ideas brought by Umno and PAS, Malays have “no other choice” but to join ruling parties such as PKR, Bersatu and Amanah
“We are not talking about parties, but we want Malays to be brought up to the standard and levels of the new Malaysia, which is more dynamic and progressive
“It is not possible for the other parties (Umno and PAS) to bring it (to that level) because their ideas have become obsolete. They are filled with outdated ideas with all sorts of corruption issues
“So, we do not see Malays having any other choice except for the parties Bersatu, PKR or Amanah,” Mujahid said.He told reporters after officiating the Federal Territories Friday Masjid and Surau Street Raya programme at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur today
Yesterday, Mahathir had invited all Malay parties, including Umno, to join Bersatu to unite and strengthen the political power of the Malay people
The Bersatu chairperson said the existence of more Malay political parties could potentially damage their chances to win in the elections
“Back then, there was only one party representing the Malays, which is Umno. Now, because of the greed to get seats, Malays today are split into six (parties)
“Six, it is no longer a 60 percent majority as each party only gets 10 percent,” he said during his speech at the Johor Bersatu Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at the Johor Jaya multipurpose hall in Johor Bahru today
Mujahid was also asked by reporters about his recent visit to Xinjiang, China and whether he saw any unfair treatment, mass incarceration and reeducation on the minority groups, especially the Uyghur community there
However, he declined to comment, saying, “I have no comments, thank you”
It was previously reported that Mujahid had refuted an article which quoted his speech in Beijing and related it to the purported oppression taking place in Xinjiang
He had explained that he did not mention Xinjiang or the Uyghur community in his speech at all. - Mkini
