Mco 2 0 Driving Schools Recreational Fishing Gyms And More Now Allowed
Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced today the resumption of various non-contact activities, including recreational fishing, gym routines and golfing, under strict Covid-19 prevention protocols.
Operations of driving schools and pilot training centres are also allowed to resume beginning tomorrow, he said at a press conference.
Each of the permitted activities is bound to procedures that limit engagement between participants.
The procedures include reduced operating hours, reduced capacity in a venue or vehicle, no sharing of sporting equipment, as well as the closure of shared spaces such as changing rooms and golf clubhouse.
"After playing golf, they (players) can't hang around to chit chat because the clubhouse will remain closed," said Ismail.
For recreational fishing, Ismail said the permission covers fishing ponds, fishing platforms, houseboats and fishing boats, registered with both the local authorities and the Fisheries Department.
Passengers on a boat, including the crew, must not exceed 50 percent of its capacity, he added.
"All forms of fishing competition are strictly not allowed," said Ismail.
Beginning tomorrow, Ismail said permitted non-contact fitness activities include neighbourhood jogging, cycling and exercise activities of not more than two people in a group.
Training for contact sports including football, basketball, hockey and takraw can only be carried out individually, while any use of commercial sports facilities must be booked in advance.
Badminton, ping pong and tennis games can only be played by two players, and no group exercises can be carried out in gymnasiums.
"All contact sports and recreational activities that involve physical contact are still not allowed," he said.
Meanwhile, Ismail noted that this year would be the first time Chinese New Year celebrations are held under Covid-19 protocols.
Just like other major celebrations since the start of the pandemic last year, Ismail said authorities would step up enforcement efforts, including around neighbourhoods and housing areas. - Mkini
