Malaysia Welcomes First Tesla Centre In Cyberjaya Offering Comprehensive Electric Vehicle Experience

Malaysia’s first Tesla Centre has officially opened its doors in Cyberjaya, marking a significant milestone in providing a complete customer experience for electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts in the region. The two-storey facility, set to develop in two phases, initially features a retail area showcasing the latest Tesla models.

The second phase of development will further enhance the customer experience by introducing service, delivery, and after-sales support facilities. This initiative underscores Tesla's dedication to facilitating Malaysia's shift towards sustainable energy, offering a seamless Tesla ownership experience for local customers.

Strategically situated in Cyberjaya, a renowned Information and Communications Technology (ICT) hub, the Tesla Centre offers easy access for both local and international commuters. Its prime location, connected to major commercial and residential areas via expressways and close to the federal administrative centre of Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, ensures that customers across the region can effortlessly access Tesla’s products and services. The centre will feature all trims of the newly launched and affordable electric SUV, Model Y.

YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, expressed optimism about Tesla's direct involvement in Malaysia. He stated, “Tesla’s presence will significantly contribute to the realization of Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030. It will not only tech up our manufacturing industry but also play a crucial role in our pursuit of net-zero carbon emissions.”



He further noted that Tesla’s entry into Malaysia would stimulate knowledge transfer, enhance the capabilities of SMEs within Tesla’s ecosystem, and generate high-skilled, well-paying jobs. “The launch of the Tesla Centre, just seven months after Tesla's initial announcement of entering Malaysia, is a testament to our commitment to attracting the right investments and improving the ease of doing business in the country,” he added.

In support of the nation's low-carbon mobility goals and the burgeoning EV industry, Tesla customers will receive exemptions from full import and excise duties for newly registered zero-emission Tesla vehicles. Additional perks include a 100% road tax exemption and individual income tax relief of up to RM2,500 on expenses related to EV charging facilities for the 2023 assessment year. Companies renting non-commercial EVs can also claim tax deductions on rental amounts up to RM300,000 from 2023 to 2025.
