Landlord Shares Experience With Hoarder Tenant Warns Others To Be Wary Not To Repeat Her Mistake
NOT quite Michael Keaton in Pacific Heights where a psychopath tenant terrorises his landlords who live downstairs but still a conduct that is unreasonable and unacceptable.
In a post on X, landlady hantuinenekpink (@ainapinkk) complained of a tenant from hell known variously as “Princess Suzie”, “Ungku Suzieadriana” and “Aunty Pink” who is also an influencer on TikTok.
The poster regretted not doing certain things when renting a house to the aforementioned “Aunty Suzie”, namely not hiring a real estate agent and failing to conduct regular spot checks on the premises.
In her post that has garnered 2.7M million views at the time of writing, the landlady also lamented that not changing the name on her TNB (Tenaga Nasional Bhd) account to that of the tenant has also contributed to her losses.
This has led to her incurring losses amounting to RM33,000, including RM16,000 in unpaid TNB bills as well as another RM2,500 for damaged meter and pipes owed to Air Selangor.
Additionally, unpaid rental alone amounted to RM13,000 – the last straw which eventually forced her to call the cops “to chase away” the errant dwellers who rented her home from 2016 to 2024.
She even went as far as telling the cops that there was a need to check if there was a corpse in the house!
At the end of the day, the poster contended that she was viralling the tenants’ identities to warn other landlords of these “tenants from hell”.
One netizen asked what could be done to force errant owners out as he, too, was facing a similar scenario with tenant who has not paid rent for months, plus kids who would karaoke into the wee hours.
The poster advised lodging a police report while claiming they feared the tenant had passed away inside the premises. This will force the cops “to raid the house” for verification.
One commenter wondered how it is possible to accumulate that much arrears on the utility bill considering that TNB would usually issue a power-cut warning just after a few months of unpaid bills.
The poster explained that the unpaid amounts were staggered over various months, plus this was her mother’s house and that she only got to know of such problems recently.
Another was amazed at how the tenants allowed the front yard to become an unkempt jungle.
One commenter noticed by just watching the tenant’s social media live feed that it is apparent she is the unkempt sort.
Another posted a brief video purportedly of the home which was strewn with all manner of debris which made even finding the entry passage difficult.
One netizen shared similar experience of renting to terrible tenants. Problems extended beyond unpaid utility bills to include missing washing machine, curtains and bed!
The tenant also apparently painted the house in hideous colours in addition to having put up poorly-installed power points all over the house.
A house is a very valuable commodity. Those who rent it out need to ensure utility bills are paid and premises are kept in satisfactory condition.
Of course, the tenant is also responsible for the upkeep but it has to be said that the onus is on the landlord to ensure the necessary is done.
Failure to do will probably lead to such a scenario. Better be safe than sorry. – Focus Malaysia
