Penang PKR state leadership council member Fahmi Zainol has called on DAP parliamentary leader Nga Kor Ming to put the proverbial sock in it and refrain from commenting on the KK Mart “Allah” socks controversy.
Fahmi said it would be better for Nga to keep quiet on the matter instead of making things worse.
“There is nothing related to Nga (in this issue). Why the urgent need to comment on it? Being quiet is better than speaking out,” he said in a statement today.
“If Nga understands the need to respect the sanctity of each religion, he should not have interfered in this matter and made things worse,” the Penang exco member also said
KK Mart has been under fire after socks bearing the words Allah were found in its stores last week.
Nga yesterday chided Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh - one of the issue’s most vocal critics - for continuing to stir racial and religious sentiments on the matter.

Issue transcends race and religion
Fahmi, however, emphasised that the controversy transcends mere racial or religious sentiments. 
“(It is about) the sanctity of the name Allah, which Muslims are duty-bound to protect,” he said.
He added that Nga should have focused on his duties as housing and local government minister and left the KK Mart matter to the authorities to investigate.
Earlier today, police were reported to have found five pairs of socks with the word Allah on them at the factory of the supplier who sent the socks to KK Mart.
The five pairs of socks were the ones that were sent back to the supplier after the controversy erupted. - Mkini
