(UPKN pic)PETALING JAYA: The Kelantan government has thanked the federal government for allocating RM58.6 million as “wang ihsan” (goodwill grant).
Menteri besar Nassuruddin Daud said the provision underscores the commitment of the government, led by Anwar Ibrahim, to consistently prioritise the welfare of Kelantan, despite it being governed by an opposition party, Bernama reported.
The menteri besar said besides the “wang ihsan” allocation, the prime minister had also assisted Kelantan in other matters, highlighting the positive ties between the state and federal governments.
“I am grateful to the prime minister for continuing to aid Kelantan, not only through the ‘wang ihsan’ allocation but also in other matters.
“The relationship between the state and federal governments has always been good and Anwar’s assurance of attention to Kelantan is appreciated,” Nassuruddin told reporters at his Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Maahad Tahfiz Kampung Meranti today.
Last week, the federal government disbursed goodwill grants of RM172.3 million to the Terengganu state government and RM58.6 million to Kelantan to finance the state governments’ emoluments commitment.
Last November, Nassuruddin was reported as telling the state assembly that the Kelantan government had received RM40 million in “wang ihsan” for the year, compared with RM331.38 million in 2022.
He said the state had received RM201.04 million in 2021 and RM190.85 million in 2020. - FMT
