Kedah State Assembly To Sit In Sept
Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the exact date of the sitting would be notified after obtaining the consent of the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah. - NSTP/LUQMAN HAKIM ZUBIRLANGKAWI: The Kedah State Assembly is slated to sit in the second week of September, with members' meeting taking place face-to-face in the unicameral chamber.
Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the exact date of the sitting would be notified after obtaining the consent of the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah.
"Last Wednesday, I was briefed by the State Legal Adviser and the notice of the state assembly sitting can only be issued once the proclamation of emergency expires on August 1.
"The earliest it can be held is in the first week of September, but the state government is more comfortable (for it to be held) in the second week," he said at a press conference at the Langkawi International Convention Center (LICC) here today.
NSTP/ HAMZAH OSMANSanusi said the state government would need at least two weeks to prepare answers to oral or written questions that will be submitted by the State Assemblyman.
"However, I leave it to the state Secretary who is responsible for administrative matters to set the earliest date, possible.
"Whatever the decision on the matter, I have to submit and receive the consent of the Sultan of Kedah before informing (the dates)," he said.
The last time the Kedah state assembly sitting held was from 15 to 19 November 2020, when Sanusi tabled the Kedah Budget 2021.
The sitting was in compliance with strict standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the National Security Council (MKN) and the Health Ministry. - NST
