Just Scare Tactic Pahang Mb Dismisses Pn S Claim It Can Takeover State Govt
PELANGAI BY-ELECTION | Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has refuted Perikatan Nasional's claim that the coalition can trigger a change in the state government if it wins the Pelangai seat.
This comes after PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday said that PN can take over the Pahang government through defections.
Speaking to reporters today, Wan Rosdy (above) dismissed the claim as PN trying to create confusion and scare voters as polling day draws near.
According to the Umno vice-president, all 15 BN assemblypersons in Pahang have issued statements assuring that they remain steadfast with his leadership following the speculation.
"This is another clear evidence that they love to play on sentiment and sensationalisation, with the aim of striking fear among the people that there might be a change of state government.
"As politicians, we should argue based on policies and performance, not playing up sentiments. I believe this is not something that a leader should say.
"Because it will not happen. They just create stories, and when the people hear this, they will be scared. This is unhealthy," he told reporters when met during a campaign round in Pelangai today.
The menteri besar believed that PN’s new narrative won't have any effect on BN votes when constituents cast their ballots this Saturday.
Ferrying out-of-town voters
On PN mobilising several Malay NGOs to ferry out-of-town voters back to Pelangai so they can vote for the coalition, Wan Rosdy said BN has also made similar efforts.
"We also mobilise NGOs. And we engaged not only the Malay NGOs, but also the non-Malays. Unlike them (PN), who only depend on Malay NGOs," he added.
PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin and PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan ManYesterday, Muhyiddin, in his speech at a dialogue session with PN-friendly NGOs, said the coalition can take over the state government through defections after it wins the Pelangai by-election.
By winning Pelangai, PN would need only four more seats in the state legislative assembly to form the majority, according to the Bersatu chairperson.
"Maybe, who knows, one morning some Umno representatives suddenly realise that they had made a mistake and want to join our coalition.
"(If this happens), (PAS deputy president) Tuan Ibrahim (Tuan Man), InsyaAllah will be the next Pahang menteri besar,” Muhyiddin said. - Mkini
