GOMBAK: PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has questioned why Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be facing charges in court despite investigations not being completed.
"As a lawyer, (I understand that) charges can only be pressed once all investigations are completed but that is not the case for this situation," said Takiyuddin.
"Despite that, we are ready to face all possibilities," he said in his speech after the mass solat hajat (prayer of need) session at the PAS centre in Taman Kelawar here on Thursday (March 9).
Takiyuddin asked why charges were being pressed on Friday (March 10), given that it was a busy day for both courts and offices.
"The courts also need time to arrange the bail but what if there is no time for this? This means the accused may have to be remanded until the following week," he said.
Other leaders present here are Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Bersatu supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Aside from them, Putrajaya MP Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin, Pahang Bersatu chief and Indera Mahkota MP Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, and Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal were also present.
Also present were PAS vice-president Datuk Idris Ahmad and Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
The just-concluded prayer session titled "Solat hajat for security of the country and solidarity against cruelty" featured speeches by the leaders of Perikatan Nasional, including the senior leadership of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and PAS.
It was organised following the announcement that former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Bersatu president, would be summoned to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) on Thursday.
Muhyiddin was then arrested but later released on MACC bail. - Star
