Its minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said various parties have filed several police reports on the matter.
"There have been several police reports filed. Let the police handle the matter," he told reporters after presenting certificates of citizenship to several children today.
He was asked about the progress of the investigation into the issue and whether the police have summoned executives of KK Mart to assist in the investigation.
Earlier, photos of the socks being sold at a KK Supermart outlet in Bandar Sunway went viral, drawing criticism from social media users, with some even calling for the chain to be boycotted.
This prompted the company to apologise and promise that such an incident would not recur.
In a statement, the convenience store said it had stopped the sale of the socks made by Miranosock.
KK Group founder and executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr K.K. Chai said he was furious with the sock suppliers.
"We are fully responsible for this, and we offer a public apology to the people, especially Muslims," he said.
On March 16, Umno Youth chief Dr Muhammad Akmal Salehl lodged a report against the management of KK Super Mart at the Merlimau police station in Melaka at 10.30pm.
He called on all people and parties, irrespective of race, religion and political affiliation, to send a clear signal for strict action to be taken against the person or group responsible for the incident.
On March 17, Dr Akmal said the management of KK Mart had two days to put up a nationwide banner at all 881 convenience store branches to apologise.
He warned that the wing would initiate a "stronger boycott" against KK Super Mart in the event the management of the convenience store fails to submit to its demands.
His Majesty the King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim also has expressed his displeasure and sadness that socks with the word 'Allah' were being sold at a convenience store chain.
His Majesty reminded all segments of society to uphold national harmony and refrain from exploiting sensitive issues related to religion, ethnicity, and royalty. - NST
