Grill Azmin and Takiyuddin too, says Ahmad Maslan
Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan wants Azmin Ali and Takiyuddin Hassan to be grilled by MPs over the roles of the two ministers in curbing Covid-19.
He said Azmin, the international trade and industry (Miti) minister, and Takiyuddin, the de facto law minister, are not among the ministers listed to speak during the special sitting of the Dewan Rakyat beginning tomorrow. He said they must be added to the list.
“There are two ministers not in the list who need to be grilled. One is the Miti minister, for opening factories as they breach SOPs, leading to numerous workplace clusters.
“The other one is the law minister, who knows everything about the emergency ordinances. These two names need to be added to the list to be grilled too,” he said in a live forum on Facebook today.
Ahmad, who is Pontian MP, said Takiyuddin must explain whether the use of emergency ordinances had managed to curb the spread of Covid-19, adding that the special sitting of the Dewan Rakyat should have been held three months ago to discuss how to manage the pandemic better.
The Dewan Rakyat reconvenes tomorrow for a special five-day sitting, after not meeting since December. The Dewan Negara will meet from Aug 3 to Aug 5. FMT
