Govt To Tighten Several Sops In Sabah

Restaurants and convenience stores will only be allowed to operate from 6am to 9pm.PUTRAJAYA: Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced shorter opening times for business premises in Sabah as part of the government’s efforts to tighten SOPs.
This is on top of the existing ban on inter-district travel.
Ismail said restaurants and convenience stores will only be allowed to operate from 6am to 8pm.
He said petrol stations will now operate from 6am to 8pm, and markets from 6am to 2pm.
“A few other SOPs will also be tightened. These were suggested by the Sabah state government and we agree with them,” he said during a press conference at the Prime Minister’s Office today.
This follows a spike in Covid-19 cases in the state since early September.
Ismail said even though economic and religious activities were still allowed, people would still need to comply with the tighter SOPs.
He said the public can get clarification on the SOPs by logging onto the National Security Council’s (MKN) website.
Ismail also allayed fears of a widespread outbreak, telling the rakyat not to panic as a large number of cases had occurred in isolated areas, such as jails or detention centres.
On the task force operations, he said police arrested 241 people for flouting SOPs during this recovery movement control order (RMCO) period.
“Forty-one individuals were remanded. Two were given bail while 198 individuals had their offences compounded,” he said.
Meanwhile, the border enforcement authorities arrested 21 undocumented migrants, a trafficker and two smugglers. They also confiscated 10 vehicles. - FMT
