Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the new guidelines for entry into Sabah will come into effect on April 1.
He said international travellers either by air, land or sea also need to pay the cost of transport to the quarantine centre if required.
Further, international travellers need to pay the quarantine cost (for those partially vaccinated or unvaccinated) and all Covid-19 treatment costs, including hospital admission.
"International travellers are required to undergo RTK Antigen test done by trained healthcare personnel before immigration clearance at all Points of Entry (PoE) into Sabah.
"Personal or pre-purchased RTK saliva test is not allowed," said Masidi, adding that non-Malaysian travellers must purchase Covid-19 insurance.
Masidi said transit passengers – Malaysians and non-Malaysians – were allowed to proceed with entry into Sabah if the RTK-Antigen test was done by trained healthcare personnel taken at the first PoE with a negative result.
"Children aged 6 and below are exempted from RT-PCR test before departure and RTK-Antigen test done by trained health care personnel upon arrival.
"For children and adolescents, 17 years and below, they are exempted from quarantine despite vaccination status, unless (testing) positive upon arrival in Sabah," he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Sabah recorded 251 new Covid-19 infections today.
A total of 244 people or 97.21 per cent of the new cases, were in Category 1 and 2, while two cases were in Category 3, four were in Category 4 and a sole case was in Category 5.
Sabah also registered two deaths, one each in Kota Kinabalu and Kudat.  - NST
