PETALING JAYA: A man and his daughter were reported murdered in the lobby of an apartment building in Penang this afternoon.
Penang police chief Hamzah Ahmad said they initially received information about an individual with a knife who was acting suspiciously at an apartment in Bandar Baru Farlim, Ayer Itam.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police found three bodies covered in blood on the floor of the apartment’s lobby, near a lift.
A 62-year-old man and his 30-year-old daughter were confirmed dead at the scene, while a 32-year-old man, believed to be the suspect, was arrested.
The suspect, who was injured due to self-inflicted stab wounds, was sent to Penang Hospital for treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
“We consider this case to be solved with the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of the weapon which was used to kill both victims,” Hamzah said.
“We are investigating the suspect’s motive and are calling for witnesses to come forward with information.”
He urged netizens not to speculate on the case as it could hamper the investigation.
Bernama quoted a female family member, who preferred not to be named, as saying that the female victim was not in any sort of relationship with the suspect and that she was married with three children.
“Please give our family some space … we have lost two loved ones at one time,” she said. - FMT
