Even If Ydp Agong Dissolves Parliament It Does Not Solve The Malaysian Dilemma

Until now nothing seems resolved. The country does not have a government. Only an interim Prime Minister. Today I asked (with tongue in cheek) one of the PM's Advisors if he was still going to work today (as "Interim" Advisor). No reply. Which to me is a good sign.
Yesterday when Dr M resigned as the PM there was no immediate need to dissolve Parliament. You don't change the entire government just because the PM or the President leaves the scene.
Up to yesterday, one bloc ie Pakatan Harapan still had the majority bloc in Parliament. But the equation changed completely when Bersatu pulled out their 26 MPs from the Pakatan Harapan.
Once Bersatu pulled out there was no more Pakatan Harapan. So right now there is no  more any one single bloc with a clear majority in Parliament.
In such a situation I believe it is clear that Parliament must be dissolved and new elections must be called.
Hence the action by the YDP Agong to call ALL 222 MPs to the Istana and to personally record their support (for who? for Dr M, BN, non existent PH?) is a bit perplexing.
Dengan segala hormat dan ampun Tuanku I think you have been ill advised.
It is not the job of the YDP Agong to do a personal headcount of 222 MPs. Our system of Parliamentary democracy depends on political parties. This is our system for over 63 years now.
There are two major problems here :
a. Even if each and every individual MP has his or her personal choice of  who they wish to support, the fact is in our system of political parties, individual MPs will be required by their parties to toe the party line.  That is the main purpose of having the party system in the first place.
Therefore the YDP Agong's decision to interview each MP privately can wrongly influence or interfere in an MPs loyalty to his party's wishes.
The YDP Agong should just leave it to the political parties to decide who they wish to support.
If at all - the YDP Agong should just ask the party chiefs to give him a tally sheet showing how many MPs in their respective parties support which candidate for PM. End of story.
For the YDP Agong to personally interview each MP individually is unprecedented and does not  dovetail with our political system.
b. If (this is an 'if')  the YDP Agong asks the MPs to choose one name (out of a few)  as their choice for Prime Minister then the next question which should be asked is how will the YDP Agong decide whose names to be included in the list of preferred Prime Minister candidates?
Is Dato Sri xyz's name in the list? Why?Is Tun Y's name in the list? Why?Is Tengku Z on the list? Why?
What I am trying to say is that the YDP Agong becomes "embroiled" a little bit too far beyond his constitutional role.
The horse trading, arguing over Cabinet positions, offering cash (just kidding ok) the tallying up the number of MPs etc is the work of the politicians and their respective political parties.
It is part of the quite remarkable system of party politics and parliamentary democracy.
The Federal Constitution is very clear - the Agong appoints the MP who has the majority support of Parliament as the Prime Minister. This means it is the MP's job to go and collect the support of at least 112 other MPs and then present them to the YDP Agong.  It is their responsibility.
The YDP Agong should not encroach into this area. It does not sound right.
Ok having said that here are two real issues.
1.  This whole thing - leading up to Dr M resigning - has been triggered by this 'Will Anwar be PM8' question.

And the governance of the country has come to be in its dire straits today because Anwar did not accept that the majority of MPs and also the people do not want him to be the PM.  This has now become very clear.
Syukur Alhamdulillah this question has now been fully answered. Anwar cannot get the majority support of the MPs to become the PM. This has become more and more obvious since yesterday.
Not only that but Anwar cannot even manage his own party PKR. Now PKR is down to just 36 MPs. 18 MPs (?) have left him. This is very bad.
And more than half of the 36 PKR MPs with Anwar are non Malays. Chinese make up 18 of those MPs? (Please correct me if incorrect).Indians are also quite a few.So Anwar Ibrahim is now leader of a substantially non-Malay political party.(Do read on - this is NOT a racist point by me).

The majority of PKR MPs who have followed Azmin are Malays or Sarawak / Sabah bumiputras.
Anwar's political strength now depends on Chinese and Indian MPs. Anwar does not represent the Malay ground. This is just a point of interest. I am glad that so many non Malays can support a Malay candidate like Anwar. Not a very bright thing to do but this is democracy. It is a free country and I respect your rights to support who you want.
2.   The second point is about Dr Mahathir's continuing failure to appoint capable and viable candidates into the Cabinet and in office. Throughout his political career Dr Mahathir has made the same mistake of choosing or appointing the most unsuitable, incapable, moronic, corrupt, yes even homosexual (in an Islamic country), inexperienced, poorly educated, non achieving, morally bankrupt, lecherous and lustful people  as MPs, Ministers, DPMs, PMs etc.
Dr Mahathir himself has repeated many times that his weakness is that he has often appointed the wrong people. Anwar, Badawi, Najib, kasut hitam, go-jek lari lompat pagar etc etc. The list is long and gets longer.
And Dr Mahathir is continuing to repeat the same mistakes.
So now, much, much more serious than the issue of the succession is the issue of the public's disenchantment, distrust and disbelief with one of the most incapable, silly, ridiculous and foolish set of Cabinet of Ministers ever.
We praise Allahu swt that this Cabinet of fools has now resigned. We are rid of them. Good riddance of bad rubbish.
But the danger is not over yet. Because the problem is will Dr Mahathir be making this mistake yet again and again?
I am super certain that Dr Mahathir will be appointed our Prime Minister again.  Hopefully in a day or two.
A WhatsApp message from a former Minister (100% pro Dr M) says "By tomorrow we will know headcount of Parliament support..then PM can be installed. Today 90 MPs called one by one by Agong.."
So I really hope that when Dr Mahathir becomes the PM again, he will NOT appoint the same set of incapable, foolish and inexperienced MPs as Cabinet Ministers.
To Dr Mahathir - 25 year old kids who do not even make their beds at home are not exactly Cabinet material.
You see here is the real bad thing -  when Dr Mahathir keeps repeating his mistake of appointing the incompetent, the incapable and the corrupt - it reflects upon Dr Mahathir's own competence (or the lack thereof). The public loses trust in you.
In the real world, in the private sector for example - when the team of Managers or Executives fail in their job - then the CEO will fire them and get a new management team. If the CEO does not replace the failed team of managers, then it is the CEO himself  who may lose his job. That is why the private sector is much more efficient and productive.  If you do not perform you get kicked out.
So the Anwar issue looks settled. Anwar is no more an issue.
But the issue of incompetence is really the much larger problem now. This is where the public (Malay, Iban, Chinese, Indian etc) have become so fed up.
Why cant we have a set of competent Cabinet Ministers who are straight (non corrupt and also straight in their sexual preferences) who are experienced and who can perform high above average? Yes Cabinet Ministers must perform above the average of the normal layman.
The idea that only MPs should be Ministers (as provided for in the Constitution) should be discarded. Non MPs can be appointed Senators who can then be made Ministers. Because the incompetence of Cabinet Ministers can destroy a ruling government. This is what has happened to the PH government.
It is clear that the Pakatan Harapan's team of  Cabinet Ministers were the most inexperienced and under performing bunch of clowns. They inspired little or no confidence in the public.
The public has turned against the Pakatan Harapan because the Cabinet (including the PM) showed so much incompetence.
So to Dr Mahathir  etc - it is a total waste of effort to go through all the planning and plotting to get Anwar out of the way, only to get back into office with the same set of incompetents and nincompoops as Ministers. This is what has made you so unpopular in so short a time.
Do you really want another flying car, go-jek, kasut hitam or semburit Minister?     Posted by Syed Akbar Ali
