Emco In Ipoh And Kota Belud Localities Extended On Several Prisons
Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced enhanced movement control order (MCO) in several localities in Ipoh and Kota Belud and an extension of the order in several prisons.
In Perak, Zone B and C of Taman Meru 2C in Ipoh will be placed under enhanced MCO for 14 days beginning Nov 20.
This is after the Health Ministry recorded 76 positive Covid-19 cases in the areas.
A total of 2,288 residents and 572 houses will be affected.
In Sabah, the enhanced MCO will be imposed on Kampung Nahaba and Kampung Tegudon in Kota Belud following 36 active cases detected in the areas.
The order will be effective on Nov 20 and will involve 1,740 residents in both localities.
Ismail said one representative from each house in those two villages will be allowed to go out to withdraw money and buy essential items.
They are allowed to do so as the banking facility and related shops are located outside of the enhanced MCO area. However, they have to obtain permission from the police.
Meanwhile, the enhanced MCO on the temporary detention centre in Tawau, Sandakan prison, and Taman Wira prison quarters in Sandakan, will be extended for another 14 days beginning Nov 20.
He said there are 137 active cases in the temporary detention centre and 141 active cases at Sandakan prison and its Taman Wira quarters.
A similar extension of the enhanced MCO has been declared on Seberang Perai prisons and its quarters beginning tomorrow until Dec 2.
The enhanced MCO on those two areas had begun on Oct 22 until Nov 4, before it was extended until today.
They had recorded 557 positive cases with 75 screening results still pending. - Mkini
