Dr Wee Import And Export Logistics Activities May Operate 24 7 With Immediate Effect

PETALING JAYA: Loading and unloading activities for import and export purposes will be allowed to operate 24 hours every day with immediate effect, says Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
He said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 12) that the ease of the movement of goods nationwide will make it easier for companies to conduct business.
“Previously, this activity was limited to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8am to 8pm.
“The decision was made following a request from the Transport Ministry to the National Security Council (NSC) in order to prevent congestion at warehouses and container yards and further ensure the smooth flow of goods as the economy picks up again,” Dr Wee said.
He added that operators must comply with standard operating procedures (SOP) stipulated by the NSC which includes full compliance according to the current phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
“Companies involved in these activities must have permissions given by the ministry or through the Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) 3.0 operated by the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti).
“Companies are permitted to operate based on the percentage of employees who have been vaccinated,” Dr Wee added.
He also said that a company may operate at 60% of its current staffing if 40% of its employees have received vaccinations.
With 60% of employees being vaccinated, the company can operate with 80% of its staff.
“A company may operate with 100% staffing if 80% of its employees have received vaccination against Covid-19,” he added.
Other SOPs also include health protocols as stipulated by the Health Ministry including temperature screening, checking in with MySejahtera, maintaining physical distance, wearing face masks and using hand sanitisers.
Persons with Covid-19 symptoms, those residing in enhanced movement control areas, persons under surveillance and persons under quarantine are not allowed on the premises.
“The ministry wishes to remind that any violation of the associated SOPs can result in action taken under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
“As always, the ministry will continue to monitor conditions on the ground to ensure a healthy and enabling environment for participants of the logistics and transport industry to thrive,” Dr Wee said.
Companies are encouraged to refer to the latest SOPs at www.mkn.gov.my. - star
