Turns out, the secret to living a century is not some secret elixir - it’s cat videos.
According to Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Dr Mahathir Mohamad has kept his political claws sharp and his spirits purring thanks to a steady diet of feline content.
In a social media post, the Muar MP described this as the former prime minister’s “biggest secret”.
“In conjunction with Tun @chedetofficial’s 100th birthday, I think it’s time I reveal Tun M’s biggest secret. The secret to how he stays youthful, healthy, and seemingly relaxed even when he’s battling it out in Parliament.
ADS“Not just once. Many times. Even laughing to himself. While the whole country was heating up, Tun calmly watched kittens unafraid of water and bouncing around,” he quipped.
The former Muda president also took the opportunity to share a photo showing Mahathir watching cat videos when he was still the MP for Langkawi.
“Happy Birthday! Stay forever young and savage. I love you,” he wrote.
Mahathir was instrumental in launching Syed Saddiq’s political career, plucking him from the debating stage and thrusting him into the national spotlight.
At just 25, Syed Saddiq was appointed as the youth and sports minister in Mahathir’s cabinet, making him the youngest-ever federal minister in Malaysian history.
However, their paths began to diverge after the infamous Sheraton Move in 2020, which led to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan federal government.
Syed Saddiq broke away from Mahathir’s camp and went on to form his own party, Muda.
Cute videos aside, Mahathir, who became a centenarian yesterday, remains a deeply polarising figure in Malaysian politics.
