Dash To Parliament Leaves Loke Momentarily Out Of Breath

PARLIAMENT | Transport Minister Anthony Loke sparked concern in the Dewan Rakyat today when he appeared out of breath while answering a parliamentary query.
After patting his chest a few times, Loke sat down for a breather while his deputy Hasbi Habibollah took over.
A concerned Mohd Isam Mohd Isa (BN-Tampin) chimed in and asked Loke to get checked at a hospital.
Malaysiakini was made to understand that Loke was out of breath because he had run from his car to the Dewan Rakyat, as he was the first minister on schedule to answer queries.
Loke had been stuck in traffic prior to that due to the heavy rain in the Klang Valley this morning.
After a quick break, a recomposed Loke resumed his duties in answering a supplementary question from Wong Chen (Harapan-Subang) regarding an update on the case of a disabled e-hailing driver allegedly assaulted by the Johor regent's escort.
Wong also queried whether the Transport Ministry had engaged with the Malaysian Deaf Advocacy and Wellbeing Organisation (Dawn) - which assisted the driver in the case - to form guidelines for better protection of disabled e-hailing drivers.
Loke replied that the case was a police matter while adding that many disabled individuals have been approved to operate as e-hailing drivers.
He also explained that disabled drivers were given some exemptions, in response to an additional query from Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PN-Rantau Panjang).
“We are pro-disabled drivers because they can contribute to society and can be good drivers in providing e-hailing services.
“As long as they are physically capable of driving, we can give exemptions,” he said.  - Mkini
