Covid 19 Cases In Kelantan Showing Downward Trend

Kelantan health department believes the ban on interstate and inter-district travel during the Movement Control Order (MCO) also contributed to the drop in cases. - NSTP/SHARIFAH MAHSINAH ABDULLAH.KOTA BARU: Continuous efforts by the relevant enforcement agencies in educating the public on the Covid-19 virus have helped reduce the number of new infections.
Kelantan health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said this was based on the number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the state lately.
He said the department believes the ban on interstate and inter-district travel during the Movement Control Order (MCO) also contributed to the drop in cases.
"Since the MCO was imposed, fewer Covid-19 infections were recorded in the state and we believe the Government's decision not to allow such travels is effective especially in Kelantan.
"Before this, outsiders who returned to the state during long school and public holidays, resulted in cases rising drastically," he told reporters after receiving food donations from Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim) at the Silver Jubilee Hall, here, today.
Also present were state Yadim director Mahadi Awang and the state Quarantine and Treatment Centre for low-risk Covid-19 patients (PKRC) director Dr Azman Yacob.
While thanking all enforcement agencies, Dr Zaini hoped that this trend would remain and Kelantan would soon be free from the pandemic.
On the number of PKRCs in Kelantan, he said apart from the Silver Jubilee Hall, Kelantan had set up three other centres - two in Kota Baru and another in Gua Musang.
"At the moment, there are more than 170 low-risk Covid-19 patients at the four centres and so far, we have no plans to add more centres," he added.
Meanwhile, Mahadi said the PKRC in Silver Jubilee Hall was the second to receive donations from Yadim after the first in Pusat Tarbiah Islamiah Kelantan (PUTIK).
"We have handed over similar donations to the PKRC in Putik last Saturday and the donations were not only from Yadim but also several NGOs.
"We plan to give same donations to the centre in Gua Musang soon," he said. - NST
