Change Name Of Tng Visa Card To Stop Confusion Says Govt
Touch ‘n Go Visa launched its numberless Visa card in December last year.PUTRAJAYA: The government has recommended that the name Touch ‘n Go (TnG) visa card be changed so as not to confuse users.
Domestic trade and cost of living minister Salahuddin Ayub said this is because Touch ‘n Go is synonymous with the toll payment system.
He said this was one of the immediate actions the ministry wanted the company to take during an engagement session it held with its management to resolve issues arising from TnG card services.
Salahuddin said TnG needed to explain to users that the TNG visa prepaid cards were only for the purpose of purchasing goods and services and for withdrawing money.
“This card cannot be used for the purpose of paying tolls and public transport,” he said in a statement after the engagement session.
Salahuddin said TnG had also been instructed to carry out advocacy and early notification to users to inform them of the expiry of the card.
This is in addition to improving methods and speeding up the process and period of refunds and balance transfers.
TnG was also instructed to add more card sales centres and TNG services in locations other than the existing centres in KL Sentral and Bangsar.
The company was also told to ask online business platform providers to take down advertisements for the sale of TnG cards by third parties who did not have permission to do so, he said.
Salahuddin said TnG was given a week to produce its follow-up action plan.
Salahuddin said the ministry’s enforcement division would take legal action against any party that sold TnG cards above the price set by the issuer under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011. - FMT
