Cabinet Size Minister Salaries Cut By Half If We Win Anwar
GE15 | If Pakatan Harapan is given the mandate to govern after this 15th general election (GE15), the coalition’s chairperson and prime minister candidate Anwar Ibrahim has pledged to reduce the size of the cabinet by half.
In a bid to convince those who are struggling with the rising cost of living and surge in goods prices, Anwar also stressed that the salaries of ministers will also be reduced by half.
“If appointed, this prime minister does not want to bring the culture of greed. Therefore I will cut the salary of the prime minister.
“The number of ministers that is at 70 now will also be cut by half, along with their salary - also by half.
“If you want a minister’s salary, you must accept my terms. If not, forget it,” he said during his “grand finale” speech at Meow Garden, Tambun in Perak this evening.
It was a sea of red as supporters decked in red Harapan t-shirts and clothes of similar shade gathered at the venue as early as 7pm as they awaited the prime minister hopeful’s final address for this GE15 campaign period.
Despite the rain, the spirits of over 10,000 supporters were not dampened as they held up umbrellas and donned raincoats over their attires.
Anwar also stressed that Harapan is the only coalition which focuses on campaigning issues close to the people’s hearts, as opposed to other coalitions that play the race and religion cards.
Therefore, the PKR president reminded the people to head to the polls tomorrow to give Harapan another chance to bring change for the betterment of the country.
Aspiring to be a prime minister for all races, he vows to bring a new culture into politics.
“As a Malay leader, I will respect, cherish, and protect all other races as well.
“And, in turn, people of all races will reciprocate the same value to me as their elected leader.” - Mkini
