A new creative force has joined LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort, ushering in a fresh era of imagination, creativity and play for the park! LEGOLAND Malaysia is thrilled to introduce Zariq Mohd Ali, 30, from Kuala Lumpur, as Malaysia’s first-ever Master Model Builder. Following a nationwide search for Malaysia’s finest LEGO® talents, Zariq’s outstanding skill, artistic vision and lifelong passion for LEGO made him a standout candidate – the ideal choice for this uniquely impactful role.
Zariq’s appointment marks an important next step in LEGOLAND Malaysia’s journey to deliver unforgettable experiences to guests, with his innovative designs and captivating builds set to inspire families and children of all ages. From crafting stunning LEGO models for the park to leading hands-on workshops and interactive play sessions, Zariq will be bringing the magic of LEGO to life in all-new ways at the resort.
Speaking on being crowned Malaysia’s first Master Model Builder, Zariq shared, “This is truly my dream job! LEGO has been a constant companion throughout my life. Growing up, my family moved around a lot and one of the few things that stayed with me during this time was LEGO. Being able to share my love for LEGO with others feels like the opportunity of a lifetime. I’m excited to get started and hope to bring the same joy that LEGO has given me over the years to the kids visiting LEGOLAND Malaysia.”
CS Lim, Divisional Director of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Zariq to the team as our first-ever Master Model Builder in Malaysia! The response to our search was overwhelmingly positive, with so many creative and talented builders applying. Ultimately, Zariq stood out for his strong passion, creative vision, and how he embodies our LEGO DNA of learning through play. We can’t wait to see the amazing experiences he’ll create for our guests and the inspiration he’ll provide to young minds across Malaysia.”
As the Master Model Builder, Zariq will also serve as LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort’s ambassador, creating fun and educational social media content, along with helping design, produce, and host exciting new events at the park.

Globetrotter: Born in France, Zariq has lived in multiple countries around the world, including Mexico, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand, before settling down in Malaysia.
Multilingual Expert: Hello, Apa Khabar, Bonjour, Ni Hao, Hola! Zariq speaks five languages – he’s fluent in English, Malay and French, and has conversational-level Chinese and Spanish.
Beyond the Builds: He’s a former Business Development manager and holds a degree in International Relations and Economics.
Inspired by Travel: His childhood fueled a passion for travel, which inspired his Master Model Builder submission – a Skyline Build featuring some of his favourite cities around the world!
A LEGO Family: Zariq credits his Danish cousins for introducing him to the world of LEGO at an early age – naturally, since they hail from the home of LEGO!
