Bn S Stability A Myth Says Melaka Pn Man
Sungai Udang assemblyman Dr Aleef Yusof questions if a change in chief minister will benefit the people.
(FMT) – A Perikatan Nasional assemblyman in Melaka has hit out at Barisan Nasional and Umno over the resignation of chief minister Sulaiman Ali.
Sungai Udang assemblyman Dr Aleef Yusof said BN’s claim that it would bring stability to Melaka was just a myth, alleging that a power grab was behind Sulaiman’s resignation.
“Even the Melaka state election had to be held (in November 2021) after Umno leaders fought among themselves for the chief minister’s post.
“Despite Umno’s big win in the state election, there is no stability because some among them are greedy for power.
“In the end, the people become the victims. The people want the state government to help them amid the high cost of living and rising cost of goods, but this is what they get,” he said in a statement.
The Bersatu man questioned if a change of chief minister would bring any change for the people, and believed that many were disappointed with the latest development.
This morning, state secretary Zaidi Johari confirmed that Melaka’s new chief minister will be sworn in tomorrow at 3pm.
According to Bernama, this came after governor Ali Rustam received Sulaiman’s resignation letter.
Sulaiman was at the Seri Negeri complex earlier to meet Ali. He left at about 11am after spending more than an hour with the governor.
Yesterday, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed that Sulaiman had resigned as chief minister. While it is speculated that Melaka Umno chief Ab Rauf Yusoh is set to replace Sulaiman, Zahid refused to confirm this.
He said he would be seeking an audience with Ali to propose a new candidate for the post.
